Click on the blue button under the presentation preview that says "MAKE A COPY". You will get a copy of the document on your Google Drive and will be able to edit, add or delete slides.
If Google Slides doesn't allow you to make a copy, then you have to be signed in to your Google account.
Some users with Google Accounts hosted by schools or companies don't have account permissions to make a copy of files outside certain domains. Please ask your school/company or use a personal account.
You can do whatever you want: change colors, typography, add or delete slides and change layouts.
Design elements (borders, backgrounds, icons) are placed on the master slides. Click the Slide menu, then select Edit master. The master template editor will appear. Here is where you can change the overall design elements of your slide.
When you change the proportions of the template Google Slides tries to readjust all the elements in it by stretching or shrinking, so some of them may distort. The only solution is readjust them all by hand in the master slides. Click the Slide menu, then select Edit master. The master template editor will appear.
